I'm a WAHM who has turned her obsession with kids' nutrition into a business. My oldest daughter is four and your typical picky eater. I have to be persistant and creative to get a balanced diet into her. My little one, two, still happily loves most foods. She's the perfect example of what happens when a baby's palate is nurtured. I wish I had known then, what I know now, when I was introducing foods to my eldest.

Babies on Solids
Vegetables + Fruits are first foods NOT cereal in this order:
Sweet Potato Avocado Squash Carrot Green Beans Apple Banana Pear
That is correct. AAP recommends 6 months, but I've never waited that long. Depends on when baby is ready. Signs of readiness: baby sits independently and hold heads up, opens mouth on own, watches/interested in what you are eating and has completely lost the tongue thrust. I didn't do cereal at all with either kid. It isn't necessary; it is an American thing. Most other cultures just go straight to fruit and veggies.
You're saying don't do cereal, do these instead? At what age?
